The Best Laid Plans

plans

Thanksgiving week provided the opportunity to review the year (not quite complete but almost!) and begin laying plans for the next. The first draft of the review was completed on Monday and planning for the year ahead was begun on Tuesday.

Late Tuesday, I added the necessary files to my cloud service so I could easily access all that I needed while we celebrated the holiday and duck-hunted along the Texas Gulf Coast. While I reviewed the previous year with my husband Ed on the drive to Rockport, none of the other files were touched the entire trip.

Mission unaccomplished? I think not. The idea of strategizing about the future while looking out over the bay sounded idyllic. Yet when it came right down to it, I had no interest in distracting my mind or gaze from the beauty of nature. My body and mind told me to slow down and give it a rest — just like it told me to take a nap each afternoon after rising at 4:20 a.m. for breakfast before the hunt!

We all get wrapped up in the go, go, go — especially in this holiday season. Remember to listen to your body and mind when they tell you to just give it a rest!
