Do You Know Your Sweet Spot?

sweet spot

In “A Winning Team Begins With You” we identified that great teams come from great leaders.  And that leadership begins with you.  Our preference is to look at others’ performance as a reflection that they are not capable; that a failing within the other person is the reason for underperformance.  While at times that can certainly be the case, great teams are created with great leadership and that is determined by you.

Look inside

How well do you know you?  What are your strengths and weaknesses?  What is your vision for your business or the group you manage?  What do you value in your life and work?  How is that reflected in what you do?  Does it align with who you are?

sweet spot

The intersection of your passion, strengths and values, that sweet spot, is where you will lead yourself and others with the greatest authenticity and impact.  Here is where work becomes effortless (not challenge-less) and you find yourself intrinsically motivated, able to call on your natural talents to build a life and business that you love.

Finding it Ain’t Easy!

If it were, wouldn’t everyone be living this way…at the intersection of passion, strengths and values?  There are many great leadership books and courses to help you with this discovery.  Reading the book ain’t good enough.  You have to apply the principles.  Taking the assessment ain’t good enough.  You must explore what it means.  Pondering what you value ain’t good enough.  You have to be able to identify how that shows up in your life.

Therein lies the challenge.  It is challenge enough to make the time to read the book, take the assessment and think.  The greater challenge is our ability to see these in action in our lives.  We are way too close to look objectively.

This is exactly the reason I retained a coach in mid-2008; to help me look objectively at who I am, what I have to offer and identify where that could be valued in the marketplace.  A year and a half later I moved into a business that reflected the intersection, my sweet spot.

What could you do and who could you become with knowing that sweet spot?  Let’s explore together.
