Over the past month I have addressed a few different subjects yet all had a common thread. Do you see how they are connected? Here are the links to check them out:

Socrates is Still in Business

Needs to be Known

Getting Naked

What Other People Think

You might be concerned about what other people think if you are getting naked and have needs to be known. But you know me better than to be so scandalous! How are these all connected?

The common thread to all these blogs is that of self-awareness. We can have a chuckle thinking how self-aware we are when getting naked. Yet the unfortunate truth is so many of us are truly lacking in the self-awareness department. Here’s what that means to you.

When we are less aware of and not confident in our strengths or talents we are more easily swayed by the opinions of others. The impact of this can push us off-course taking us down a path where we end up thinking “how did I end up here?” It can also create a boundary of fear so great that we allow it to keep us here, wherever “here” is, which is likely not a chosen destination.

Lack of self-awareness can also lead to bad behavior at home and in the workplace. How many of you see or experience the example of a bully in the workplace? How do you know that you aren’t the bully at work, or at home?

We can only lead effectively when we understand who we are, knowing our natural talents and our weak spots. These very human factors are what make us successful in our work and with our clients. We can’t be comfortable getting naked with clients if we are not confident in who we are. Read the book so you understand this.

How do you begin to unravel this mystery of self-awareness? How do you know when you have mastered it? Let’s start at the very beginning by discovering your natural talents and let the road unfold from there. Follow the thread and see what unravels.
