Designing Your Day

Third Article in the Series:
Pulling It All Together

Early in the year, we focused on understanding your Strengths and what you do best. When we design our days so that 75% of our time is spent working in our Strengths, we accomplish much more and are energized, not depleted, at the end of our day. Would you like to know how?

Begin by reviewing your Strengths. If you haven’t done this work, see the footnote below. What is it that you do particularly well and how is that reflected in your work life? There are 34 strength themes and each person’s combines in a way that is unique to them. Your particular combination of strengths is 1 in 33 million. Yes, you are that unique!

Given the uniqueness of each of our strengths, I will not attempt to address how they might show up for you. Instead, I will give you a real world example – me! See what you can learn from “a day in the life of” below.

Here is how a recent day transpired for me and the strength theme I was utilizing:

  • 6:45am: Women’s networking meeting. Strength – Woo
  • 9:00am: Call with referral from a client. Strength – Positivity
  • 10:30am: Coffee with a new acquaintance from a networking luncheon. Strength – Woo
  • 12:00pm: Lunch with a client. Strength – Maximizer
  • 2:30pm: Initial meeting with a new client from a referral. Strength – Futuristic
  • 4:30pm: In-person coaching session. Strength – Strategic

I ended the day with as much or more energy than when I started. Is every day so super-charged? Not every, yet I would venture a guess that 75% of my days I am doing what I do best in a way that fires me up and leaves me feeling that I made a difference in the world.

Get to know your Strengths and implement them in your everyday life. What could you accomplish if 75% of your days were spent in your Strengths?
